בן אוני Ben-Oniy

Rachel's name for Benjamin

When Rachel was dying giving birth to Benjamin, son of Jacob, she called his name Ben-Avoni which means son (ben) of my iniquity (avoni). It's possible Rachel thought her death was punishment for taking her father's idols since Jacob had prophesied that whoever took them would die (Genesis 31:32). GOD had mercy and her son's name was declared to be Benjamin instead, which literally means "son of right hand." The new name points to Rachel's significance to Jacob (his right hand), and is also a prophecy about the tribe of Benjamin, who will one day dwell south (literally in Hebrew "at the right hand") of the City of GOD in Millennium.

ברך barak

to bless

To bless (barak) is a picture of what Father puts in ב man's ר hand כ. When Father puts something in your hands, HE has blessed you. One way we can bless (barak) THE LORD is by lifting up whatever HE has put into our hands and giving it back to Him. For example, if HE blesses your hands, you can dedicate the work of your hands to Him. As the Psalmist wrote, "I will bless (barak) You all my days. In Your Name, I will lift up my hands." Strong's H1288 verb

ברך berek

knee

It's unknown if the Hebrew word for knee derives from the word for bless (barak H1288), or if it is its own primary root word. The possible relation to blessing is that "to bless," by the letters, is a picture of Father putting something in ב man's ר hand כ. In English, we would say something has been put "in our lap," and a corresponding Biblical phrase for "on the lap" is "on the knees" (Genesis 50:23). One argument for berek representing its own root however, unrelated to blessing, is that the back part of the knee has a notable hollow כ as part of its structure. The word kaf is used to represent hollow parts throughout the Bible (hip socket, Genesis 32:32; spoons, Exodus 25:29; palm of hand, numerous verses).
