What are Enoch's Portals? | Ep 19 Enoch Explained: Book of Enoch Bible Study

The Book of Enoch describes mysterious “portals” at the ends of the earth where stars come forth and winds blow. What are these portals? As it turns out, they’re not as strange as they may sound. We also share a story about how Carlos’ request to see a portal may have resulted in one of the greatest West Coast blizzards of all time. This is a fun one!

Part 19 of a verse-by-verse study of the Book of Enoch (also known as 1 Enoch). This episode covers Enoch 33-36.

Dawson: After his journey to the Garden of Eden, Enoch recounts one more trip to the portals at the ends of the earth. Today we’re going to talk about why those portals are not as strange as they sound, and we’ll also tell you a story about how one man’s innocent request to see one of these portals described by Enoch may have possibly led to the great California blizzard of 2023.

Okay, so where’s the Figaro?

Carlos: Under here.

Dawson: Somewhere …

Carlos: There’s the top.

Dawson: Wow.

Carlos: Stay with us on the Figaro adventure. Will it survive the worst snow in California history?

Dawson: And from thence I went to the ends of the earth, no particular direction yet.

Carlos: Nowhere yet.

Dawson: And saw there great beasts, and each differed from the other. And I saw birds, also differing in appearance and beauty and voice, the one differing from the other. And to the east of those beasts, I saw the ends of the earth, whereon the heaven rests, and the portals of the heaven open.

Carlos: Let’s make it clear. He goes somewhere, we’re not told where.

Dawson: Right. Ends of the earth.

Carlos: Far away, and then to him, and then he sees beasts that are big, he has never seen before, and birds of many different types.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: And then after that, he looks east.

Dawson: Right.

Carlos: Qadim.

Dawson: Qadim, yes.

Carlos: Qadim. And now he’s saying the portals at the end of the earth. So, let’s see exactly what he means.

Dawson: But before we continue, and sometimes when people hear the word “portals,” they think, you know, that’s kind of weird, because it’s a sci-fi term, like you step through a portal.

Carlos: It’s used in strange ways today.

Dawson: Yeah, but that’s not what Enoch is talking about here. And actually, in our calendar video, we mapped out what those – what he means by those portals. He’s talking about in the east anyway, in the east and in the west, there are positions in the sky where you will see the sun and the moon appear in different parts of the year. So …

Carlos: Once a year, it’ll always come up here, he tells you. And then once a year, it’ll also come up here. That’s what he actually calls a portal, where they start from.

Dawson: Yeah, so a portal, another way to think of a portal is as a door or a gate or a doorway is the modern definition of it.

Carlos: Also a space.

Dawson: A space, yeah. So it says in verse 3 of chapter 33, “And I saw how the stars of heaven come forth, and I counted the portals out of which they proceed, and wrote down all their outlets of each individual star by itself, according to their number and their names, their courses and their positions, and their times and their months, as Uriel, the holy angel who was with me, showed me. He showed all things to me, and wrote them down for me, also their names he wrote for me, and their laws and their companies.”

Now, this is just a little summary, because later in Enoch’s book, which I know a lot of people watching are excited to get to that part, and we’re not going to get to it until like chapter 72.

Carlos: I don’t want to interrupt, but I noticed Uriel got everything and wrote it down for him, because there was a – imagine writing down every star and every portal. It’s like Uriel’s the first – we don’t go for AI, but he has the power of AI. He just aligns everything.

Dawson: Yeah. So, this whole part that we just read, the portals of the east, it’s just a summary, and later on in the book of Enoch, we’re going to get into the details, and Enoch’s going to share the actual calendar and the movements of the sun and the moon through these “portals,” which are just set positions in the sky.

So, an easy way to think of it, at least for the portals of the east and the west, is we’ve got – they call it the summer solstice, the spring equinox, the winter solstice, the autumn equinox, and those are points in the year where the sun appears at an exact location. So, at the equinoxes, the sun is – it rises due east and it sets due west.

Carlos: Always.

Dawson: Yeah, and so what Enoch explains later is that these portals are the names of these set positions that Father has established.

Chapter 34, verse 1, “And from thence I went towards the north to the ends of the earth, and there I saw a great and glorious device at the ends of the whole earth.” Now that word device, in the Ethiopian Bibles, it’s used in place of the Hebrew word “etsah,” which also means advice, counsel, something devised. So now this one, I don’t know what it means. What do you think?

Carlos: I don’t believe it’s a device. I believe he set up, he set it up, what we call nature. He set it up so that hot water comes up from the gulf stream. It’s the cold water in the north, makes it react and cause spring. When spring hits, the north builds up, pours down again, and we get winter. He made it so the world works together, has its currents, it has its ebbs and it flows, you know. We know when the water goes up. We know when the water goes down to tide, I mean.

Dawson: Okay.

Carlos: And we can set things by it. He sees it as a device, as Father designed it.

Dawson: His plans, his…

Carlos: The whole planet to him is a device, and he saw how here is what makes the hot and cold work. Here is what makes – here is the ability to make the world either extra cold or extra snow or extra dry for winter.

Dawson: Makes sense.

Carlos: He just looks – the world to him is a device that Father can use. Not to us, but to Father and His angels on, let’s set it this way, let’s set it that way, let’s make it wobble a little bit because the man didn’t listen and now, you know. So yeah, it’s not that complex. It’s not mysterious.

Dawson: It’s Father’s plans.

Carlos: Yeah, have peace and have a sober – be sober-minded, be clear-thinking. We’re not here to sell mystery or cause any kind of, any kind of strange, strange teachings. It’s very, very logical when you read the book of Enoch.

Dawson: Right.

Carlos: The world works very, very good together. Father designed it that way and He has angels holding it in place.

Dawson: Yes.

Carlos: Amen. And those who don’t, you got Dudael.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Everyone knows where that place is at now.

Dawson: Yeah. Verse two says, and Enoch is still in the north, “And here I saw three portals of heaven open in the heaven. Through each of them proceed north winds. When they blow, there’s cold, hail, frost, snow, dew, and rain. And out of one portal, they blow for good. But when they blow through the other two portals, it is with violence and affliction on the earth, and they blow with violence.”

Carlos: They say that there’s three portals. One of them seems to behave and it does good. But if the other two happen to go, it’s going to be bad. Too much snow. I’ll give you an example. We had a snowmageddon.

Dawson: Before you start with this story, let me explain what happened prior to this epic snowstorm.

Carlos: We’ve been doing this for nine days.

Dawson: How many more days can you do it?

Carlos: Forever.

Dawson: So, we’ve been reading Enoch for 20 years or something. And for whatever reason, we were having a winter without a lot of snow.

Carlos: Very little snow.

Dawson: Everyone was kind of bummed out, especially for Lucky, because Lucky loves playing in the snow. And she didn’t get any snow the whole year and it was already like getting into late February. And so, I remember Carlos standing in the middle of the street. And he goes, “Enoch got to see a portal! How come I can’t see a portal?”

Carlos: A snow portal.

Dawson: A snow portal. Okay? And so, I just laughed and didn’t think too much about it. But then snowmageddon.

Carlos: We had snowmageddon. It was on the news, national.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Where we were at, it was – I believe it was 12 feet of snow within a week.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Wow. And that was a portal.

Dawson: This mountain.

Carlos: And that was not for good. Not for good. We had to rescue two special needs children in the snow because there was no help.

Dawson: Pets, yeah.

Carlos: Two pets, one more child, food, food for cats, food for dogs, turn off somebody’s gas.

Dawson: Nobody was ready for the snow.

Carlos: Turn on somebody’s gas. And yeah, we were helping neighbors out. We had our walkie-talkies on and getting instructions through the net. And we saw a portal, the two that were not so good.

Dawson: Yeah. And I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but it happened right after Carlos asked or said, “How come I can’t see a portal?”

Carlos: And then we got snowmageddon.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: So, Father’s children, what He’s saying here is, as we said, December, January, February, Father gave us enough knowledge, you know, enough good knowledge that if you’re going to the mountains, dress right. Take snow chains and so forth. And if you live in the mountains, what’s the rule?

Dawson: Seven days.

Carlos: Have seven days’ food.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Have seven days’ food and supplies if you live in the mountains or you shouldn’t live in the mountains.

Dawson: Right.

Carlos: It’s common knowledge.

Dawson: Yeah. And in case any of you guys listening live in areas where you get a lot of snow, this mountain that we live on, it gets 33 inches a year and that’s it. So, 12 feet was like… the plows that they had to bring in, they broke the roads because the roads up here aren’t built for those kinds of plows.

Carlos: Couldn’t help. It was snowmageddon. So that’s one of the two bad portals for people. Now I’ll be honest, I enjoyed it.

Dawson: It was fun.

Carlos: I loved snowmageddon.

Dawson: It was fun.

Carlos: It was rough on people who mentally couldn’t take it, I guess. But that’s a portal. Another portal is, to keep it simplistic, we know exactly where the sun is going to rise every year.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: We know exactly where the sun is going to set every year and on every day now because that’s the portals.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: And we know exactly the trajectory it’s going to take every year.

Dawson: Right.

Carlos: That’s going to be – it’s going to rise in the qadim, the east. And then I love this word, when the sun follows across tequphah.

Dawson: Right.

Carlos: It has a tequphah, a trajectory and it comes from that portal and it settles in this portal.

Dawson: Right.

Carlos: It’s not mysterious because a lot of people go portals and they think it’s sci-fi. It’s not.

Dawson: Right.

Carlos: Father is very logical.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Amen.

Dawson: Even with these northern portals, there’s actually a cool reference in Job. Father says, talking to Job, “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?”

So, one day, we got a little glimpse of it, I think, but one day Father is going to open up one of these portals and use it for His purpose.

Carlos: Gog Magog.

Dawson: Yes.

Carlos: Balls of ice.

Dawson: Yep.

Carlos: As near as we can figure between 75 and 150 pounds, whether it’s a normal talent or a king’s talent, they have two measurements.

Dawson: I don’t know. Yeah.

Carlos: But this or this, we don’t know how big the hail ball is.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: But He uses them.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: And they’re stored up for such a day.

Dawson: Yeah. Father set all this stuff up and He uses it for His own purposes. So weather, everything.

Carlos: Yeah. And Enoch sees it as a – it’s everything works together.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Just like a perfect little – if you call it a good device today.

Dawson: Okay.

Carlos: Amen.

Dawson: So next he’s going west. It says in chapter 35, verse 1, “And from thence I went towards the west to the ends of the earth and saw there three portals of the heaven open, such as I had seen in the east, the same number of portals and the same number of outlets.”

So, these are just the corresponding portals for the east. So, when the sun rises, it eventually sets.

Carlos: He says it matches the trajectory where they would land.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Again, the tequphah, it picks up here every year, lands here. And as the year gets, as the days get shorter, it just raises lower and sets lower.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: But every year is the same trajectory. Every year is the same portal.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Amen.

Dawson: Yeah. And from thence, I went to the south, to the ends of the earth and saw there three open portals of the heaven. And thence there come dew, rain, and wind.

Carlos: Wow. There we go. Now, if you’re a scientist nowadays, you’re getting pretty good directions on how to study weather. You want to study wind, and rain, and..go south.

Dawson: It would be amazing if – there are some very brilliant creation scientists out there. It would be great if they would take a look at the book of Enoch and realize that it’s scripture, because Enoch matches a lot of these theories that they’re starting to come out with about catastrophic plate tectonics and all of this stuff. It’s in Enoch. So, if you know of any of these guys, maybe share this video or something. He explains a lot.

Carlos: They would have hints.

Dawson: Yeah. If you haven’t noticed by now, it looks like Enoch is going counterclockwise. So, he started east, then north, then west, north, west, south. And now he’s going back east. He says, “And from thence I went to the east, to the ends of the heaven, and saw here the three eastern portals of heaven open and small portals above them. Through each of these small portals pass the stars of heaven and run their course to the west on the path which is shown to them. And as often as I saw, I blessed always the Lord of glory. And I continued to bless the Lord of glory, who has wrought great and glorious wonders to show the greatness of His work to the angels, and to spirits, and to men, that they might praise His work and all His creation, that they might see the work of His might, and praise the great work of His hands, and bless Him forever.”

Carlos: Amen. So, in every journey that he saw, he had it written down. He had – obviously he had angels help him write things down. It’s too many things. And he blesses the Lord for everything. And it’s amazing that this man was shown, I always say, more than anybody else.

Dawson: Yeah.

Carlos: Amen.

Dawson: Amen.

Carlos: The travels of Enoch the scribe.

Dawson: Yes.

Carlos: Amen.

Dawson: So, he’s still going to describe some of what he saw later on in his book, but this is the end of the section that’s typically called Enoch’s Journeys. And next section…

Carlos: Does he take other journeys?

Dawson: He explains more of what he saw here. So, this is kind of the overview of everything. And he, for all we know, he could be on a journey right now. We’ll have to ask him later.

Carlos: Enoch is amazing.

Dawson: Yeah. The next section of Enoch is probably my favorite. And it’s even more amazing than this journey section, because it’s Enoch’s parables. And his parables are about us, and they are about Yashua, Son of Man. So, I’m very excited to get started on that next section of Enoch.

Carlos: Let’s go.

Dawson: And with that, we have come to the end of the second part of the book of Enoch. One question does remain, and that is, did Carlos’s car make it through the storm?

Carlos: All right, I guess we’re going to park it now. There goes the Figaro, folks. The car known as “envy me.” One shot, disco’s dead, but the Nissan Figaro is still rolling.

Dawson: And there it is, looking good as new.
