Dawson: In the wilderness, Moses took an offering of the people, of silver and gold and fine fabrics and part of what happened with the silver and gold is it turned into today’s letter, vav.
Then THE LORD said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to bring Me an offering. You are to receive My offering from every man whose heart compels him. This is the offering you are to accept from them – gold, silver and bronze, blue, purple and scarlet yarn, fine linen and goat hair, ram skins dyed red and fine leather, acacia wood, olive oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense and onyx stones and gemstones to be mounted on the ephod and breast piece and they are to make a sanctuary for Me so that I may dwell among them. You must make the tabernacle and design all its furnishings according to the pattern I show you.”
Carlos: So, this is a peg. What they had was pegs that had two of these. So, it looked like this. What did you say? Some of the offerings turned to silver and gold?
Dawson: Yes, they offered up silver and gold and some of that silver and gold turned into vavs that were used to hang the veil and also the curtains, the outer curtains of the tabernacle court.
Carlos: So, you would have vav. You will connect that to another vav with a ring of course and this is how you would connect the tabernacle in the wilderness with vav. They were made out of gold and silver, is that correct?
Dawson: Yes. So, there are instructions for each of them. Some of them were to be made out of gold, some of wood covered with gold, some silver and these vavs are attached to the pillars, which support the curtains and the veil.
Carlos: Of the tabernacle in the wilderness, vav.
Dawson: The letter vav is used to mean “join” or “and,” and if you think about it, it makes sense because the vav itself is something which joins things together. In the example given to us from Exodus, it joined the curtains and the veil to the pillars that held them up.
Similar to how the beyt is used as a prefix to mean in or inside, the vav can be added to words to mean “and” and if you were to take a look at the Bible in Hebrew, you would see that a vast majority of verses start with the letter vav because it’s used as a transition, whether it’s translated as “and” or “then” or some other connecting word.
As you might expect from a letter that’s used to join things together, it’s generally found in the middle of other letters when it comes to the actual Hebrew root words and it’s not found at the beginning of any root word. If you were to take a look at the Strong’s concordance which is basically a dictionary that’s arranged in the order of the Hebrew alphabet, there are only 10 entries under the letter vav. Seven out of those entries are names. One of them is the vav itself and so that leaves two words. One of them is valad and valad is something that is derived from a different letter. It’s derived from the yod, yalad, which means to bear.
So that just leaves one word that starts with the letter vav and not surprisingly, it means strange –and it is strange to have a word begin with the vav.
As we’re preparing this episode for the letter vav, it is the month of Abib and in Hebrew the word “abib” is used to describe the condition of crop in spring. But if you were to take a look at the letters themselves, you would see that it’s also a picture of Father’s house and the month of Abib has to do with Father’s house in a few different ways. One of them is that in this month, HE delivered Israel from Egypt and when HE delivered them, HE also set them apart as His own, as His first born.
When YASHUA was crucified and resurrected and HE made a way for all peoples and all nations to become part of the house of GOD, of the family of GOD, HE did it in the month of Abib. Going back to the tabernacle in the wilderness, once the people had made an offering of the silver and gold and all of the other stuff, the artisans and the craftsmen among them, they took those items and they created the things that were needed for the tabernacle, as instructed by Moses.
Moses was commanded on the first of Abib to put it altogether. So, on that day, the curtains were hung up to their vavs. The Ark of the Covenant was put into its place and the veil was put in front of it. The whole thing was assembled and anointed and consecrated and so were the priests. The priests began their service on that day.
There is a future first of Abib that is also set apart for the house of GOD and that is described by the prophet Ezekiel as a day when Father once again dwells among men and has a house among us. It’s part of His desire and His will to live among us and as we will see in a little bit, that is actually part of His name and it has to do with the letter vav.
You found paleo?
Carlos: Paleo. I found some… David. I found some paleo enigmatic writings on the rocks before the flood. Malik David. Vav. Yod, vav. Javan, the son of Japhet, Javan. Yod, vav, nun, Javan.
Dawson: And now Levi, one of the sons of Jacob. That’s the lamed L, the vav V, and the yod here is used for the E sound, so Levi.
Carlos: Le-va-e, Levi. And now the word you’ve been waiting for, YHVH, yod, hey, vav, hey, YHVH. Helping you, with you. Helping man, among men. YHVH. When HE says tell them My name is – instead of EL, tell him instead My name is “I will be with you and among you.” HE gave them a different name, to be with men among men and that is why you have to use your sword as a shovel and bury yourself when you go to the restroom, least you disturb His Spirit that is among you. So, when HE sends us out to camp and HE’s among us, you have to bury your waste, least His Spirit be insulted and go away.
Help man, among, and men, be among you. HE’s going to send you prophets. With men, among men. That’s why we have the ministry and the Holy Spirit moving among us, YHVH.
Dawson: Do you know how long the Israelites wandered in the wilderness?
Lisa: Four hundred and thirty years – forty years!
Dawson: Forty years. Four hundred and thirty years is the amount of time that they were in Egypt. (Correction: Egypt and Canaan)
Lisa: Right, right.
Dawson: But do you know that it’s only – it only takes 11 days to get to where they were going?
Lisa: Yeah, I know. That’s amazing, isn’t it? It turned into 40 years. Man, I hope Father doesn’t do that to us when we’re doing the three and a half years!
Dawson: Amen to that.
Carlos: Those who saw our last video… there is the alef. There is the dalet. There is the M. That’s Adam. Today’s letter is vav. Vav is used mostly for “and” or to connect. So, it’s Adam, vav, and, Adam and Eve.
Dawson: And… that’s a wrap for vav. We’ll see you guys next time when we go over the letter zayin and hopefully try to find some “zahab.” That’s “gold” in Hebrew. See you guys.
