Transcript:

Today, we’re going to read about the origin of demons and we will talk a little bit about the armor of God. If you’re just tuning in to the series, what we’ve read in the Book of Enoch so far is that there are angels in heaven who left heaven, took wives and had offspring which became giants. Those giants are also known as Nephilim in the bible.

God decided that He was going to have the giants kill each other and what we’re going to read about next is what He tells Enoch He’s going to do with the spirts of those giants once they kill each other off.

Chapter 15:8, “And now the giants who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies, because they are born from men, and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth, which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling. And the spirts of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless hunger and thirst and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them. From the days of the slaughter and destruction and death of the giants, from the souls of whose flesh the spirits, having gone forth, shall destroy without incurring judgment – thus shall they destroy until the day of the consummation, the great judgment in which the age shall be consummated, over the Watchers and the godless, yea, shall be wholly consummated.”

So basically, what Father is saying here is that these evil spirits that we sometimes call demons are going to be allowed to remain on earth and they won’t be judged for anything that they do until Judgment Day. So that would be when Yeshua comes.

Now if you belong to Yeshua and God is your Father, then the one thing we don’t have to worry about on this earth is being possessed by demons because we have the Holy Spirit in us and Father is not going to let that happen. But we do have to deal with being beset by demonic people and by demonic forces.

So, as you have likely encountered yourself, sometimes these demonic forces and these demonic people, they make life more difficult than it should be. The way Father describes what these demons are to do is they will afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle and work destruction on the earth and cause trouble.

But our Father does not leave us defenseless at all. Paul in the Book of Ephesians, he talks about the armor of God and he says that the purpose of the armor of God is for two things. One is so that we are able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Now that would include the devil and his demonic army that he has at his disposal. Secondly, the armor of God is something that Father has given us so that as Paul says, we may be able to withstand in the evil day.

What is Paul talking about here? The evil day is the day of tribulation that is coming at the end of this age. So this armor that Father gives us will allow us to stand all throughout our lives and even on the day of tribulation, the worst time in the planet, when demonic activity will be at its strongest.

One part of the armor of God that I wanted to point out to you today is what Paul says to dress our feet in because I think it has something to do with Enoch. Paul says that we should have our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

Now to have your feet shod, it means to dress your feet in something and the things that our feet should be dressed in is the preparation of the gospel or the good news of peace. The good news of peace that we have for the evil day is that our Father has made peace with us and He has given us His peace.

Speaking of the day of tribulation, Enoch said that there is a judgment coming but with the righteous, Father will make peace and will protect the elect and mercy shall be upon them and they shall all belong to God and they shall be prospered and they shall all be blessed and He will help them all and light shall appear unto them, and He will make peace with them.

That is from the very first chapter of Enoch. So what Father wanted us to know so that we are ready to stand in the day of evil that is coming is that He has given us the peace that we need already to make our stand. He’s not coming to judge us. He is coming to judge the wicked and by the end of the evil day or at the end of the evil day, I should say, the judgment is coming on these demons and they’re not going to come with us to Millenium.

Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you can quench all the flaming darks of the evil one. Now take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God.

Chapter 16:2, “And now as to the Watchers who have sent thee to intercede for them,” Watchers is another name for angels, so Father is telling Enoch what to say to the angels who sent him to petition on their behalf. “To the Watchers who have sent thee to intercede for them, who had been aforetime in heaven, say to them: ‘You have been in heaven, but all the mysteries had not yet been revealed to you, and you knew worthless ones, and these in the hardness of your hearts, you have made known to the women, and through these mysteries, women and men work much evil on the earth.’”

We talked before about those mysteries that the angels came and taught men and they included things like how to make war and how to manipulate and control other people, how to make yourself feel good, how to beautify yourself, how to eat good things and how to get rich. Now if you were to take all of this information that the angels taught man, and you were to put it into modern-day industries like defense and cosmetics and publishing, and even astrology, all of these industries that came as a result of this knowledge from the angels, it would be worth trillions of dollars.

Our Father says that these were the worthless mysteries. What does He mean? The word for worthless in Hebrew is “hebel” and you will see it all throughout the bible translated as vanity. Vanity of vanities. It’s also translated as futility and as emptiness.

So despite all of this information, being worth so much money to men today, Father sees that it does not actually profit a man. When Yeshua came, He could have come and taught 10 million times more than these angels taught men because He knows 10 million times more than these angels knew.

He could have come and He could have told people how to find a fountain of youth. He could have sold all kinds of pills. He could have written books on how Israel could have defeated the Romans at the time and He could have made a ton of money and He could have had way more followers.

But He didn’t come teaching things which do not profit a man in God’s eyes. He came teaching us how to pray, how to treat one another, how to not let money be your master, how to not become proud, how to trust our Father to take care of whatever it is that we need in this world.

He came teaching don’t love this world. He taught us use the talents that your Father gave you. Learn to listen to His spirit. He taught us that we need more than just food and water if we want to live and He taught us that if we love Him, we should feed His sheep.

All of these things are valuable because if you walk in His ways, then you will live forever and you’re going to live forever as a son or as a daughter of the king of the world and that is worth more than trillions of dollars that you can’t take with you.

Yeshua said in one of the most famous quotes of all time, “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?”

Because these angels came with the intention of ruining our Father’s children, through knowledge that either they should never have had or that Father didn’t want them to have yet. They came to ruin us. Father says to them, “You have no peace.” That is the message that He sent Enoch back with to those angels.

Verse 4, “Say to them therefore: ‘You have no peace.’”

So no peace for them but for Father’s children, we have peace and we wear our peace as shoes for our feet, so that we can stand against any attack of the devil or any attack of the evil spirits that we have to deal with in this world for now.

And with that, we have actually finished our first major section of the Book of Enoch, which is the section that deals with the fall of man and the fallen angels and next time around, we are going to start taking a look at Enoch’s journeys. Until then, peace, shalom to all of Father’s children.
